Well that’s exactly what we’re telling you… Shawn and the gang over at Shawnimals got right into the spirit of giving and rammed a whole lotta goodness into their offering for this comp, so much that we’re splitting it up into a grand prize and a runner up.

Another week, another winner and we’re not showing any signs of stopping. What can we say? This next  lot of prizes is so good… we’re going to struggle to give it away!

Andrea Kang and Nathan Jurevicius are luminaries when it comes to imagination and otherworldliness. She’s best known for her delicate, minimal illustrations and strong narratives, he for his vivid depictions of unfathomable characters and landscapes, most notably Scarygirl.

As Harley & Boss they are creative force of nature, quite literally a dream team… prolific in all different mediums from plush to paper and everything between, they have to their credit several custom, group and solo shows, as well as production toys.

Which brings me to these little babies, we’d like you to meet Owlets, Baby, Baron, Fatty, Ives, Dozer, Little Girl & Dream Boy! We know they’re irresistible and you couldn’t possibly pick a favorite, thankfully you don’t have to… As a series of 3” blind box figures, you can collect them all. Nathan J is no stranger to owls as a recurring theme in many guises of his work, so we’d like to think it was Andrea who came along and fluffed things up a bit!

I think it goes without saying that only entrants with the CORRECT answer will be entered to win and to make it fair we’ll jumble everyone up and draw names. First, grand prize winner gets one of Rock Cake’s signature silver skull pins, second draw is runner up and third place gets a prize too, in the form of her yummy perspex Skull & Bones badge sets.

It’s seems that the month of August sees our dear Jinx, celebrate turning *murmur-something* years old, and in the spirit of giving she’d like to wish you all a Very Merry Unbirthday by giving something AWESOME away every week in August!  She’s mad as a hatter- we know, we know… and that’s exactly why whatever she says goes!

A Very Merry Unbirthday to us!!!!!!

Corbett & Jones, sounds like a comedy double act, and if you agree, you wouldn’t be far wrong. They are a laugh riot, that combined with their extraordinary creative talents is ultimately what put us under… the sea.

Scooter & Jinx are once again wading into the waters of local tradition and when it comes to getting involved we don’t go half way. Hastings Old Town Carnival Week is a celebration of all things piratey and as part of the festivities we’ve entered ourselves into the window display design competition. With nothing to go on but a theme, ‘Shipwrecked’ and a million and one ways to interpret it, we thought long and hard… then decided to call in the pros!

Matt ‘Lunartik’ Jones & Phil Corbett took time out of their busy Summer schedules to take up our challenge and throw themselves into the task of taking our display to unexplored depths. Armed with little more than Posca pens, cardboard and buckets of imagination you can see they made magic, what you can’t see (yet) is that under the fall of night, our seascape takes on a whole new life in day-glo & UV.

It was a brilliant day, a stunning result and fingers crossed it’s more than enough to crush the competition into teeny tiny pathetic little pieces…. now that’s a winning spirit, right? Damn straight it is!

So when a smiley stranger knocks on your door and hands you a Julian Kimmings canvas, what do you do?

You take his f*cking hand off, that’s what!!!  That’s exactly what happened here at S&J HQ on Monday this week, and ask me what I did… You got that right! I took his hand off, bearing in mind I did it with a smile.

We’re proud and privileged to let you know that we’ve got an original Julian Kimmings canvas here in the shop, both for show and for sale. Like with much of his work, those glassy, haunting eyes seem to follow you around the room- one look and it’s all over. Don’t take our word for it, look at his flickr page to see what we mean!
